Event: The Government of Paraguay has implemented enhanced screening and quarantine measures (in Spanish) for all international travelers arriving to Paraguay. All international travelers are required to quarantine at home for 14 days.
On March 14, the Government of Paraguay announced it will partially close international borders beginning March 16. Foreigners who do not have residency will not be permitted to enter Paraguay from March 18 to March 31. This is in addition to the cancellation of direct flights from Europe beginning March 14. The U.S. Embassy urges all U.S. citizens who plan to depart Paraguay to do so as soon as they can while commercial flights remain readily available.
The Paraguayan Ministry of Health (in Spanish) requests recent travelers who experience a fever, cough, or respiratory distress contact the Ministry of Health at (0983) 87 92 75. Visit the website of the Ministry of Health for additional information on these measures.
U.S. government personnel are on reduced work schedules and encouraging social distancing. Personnel are further advised to avoid large gatherings and minimize non-essential travel.
The Department of State has issued a Global Level 3 Health Advisory advising U.S. citizens to reconsider travel abroad due to the global impact of COVID-19.
