Health Alert – U. S. Embassy Asuncion, Paraguay February 1, 2018

Event: As of February 1, 2018 the Paraguayan Ministry of Health updated the requirement that travelers should present proof of vaccination for yellow fever if the U.S. traveler spent time in the states of Bahía, Río de Janeiro, São Paulo or Espíritu Santo in Brazil prior to arriving in Paraguay. This requirement does not apply to U.S. travelers who only transited airports in Brazil prior to arriving in Paraguay.

If a traveler was present in a risk zone and does not have their proof of vaccination, no fine will be levied. The traveler will be asked by the Ministry of Health to register at the port of entry for further monitoring and follow up.
