Health Alert: U.S. Embassy – Asuncion, Paraguay (April 11, 2020)
Event: The Paraguayan government has extended its order to all persons in Paraguay to remain in their homes until April 19. Starting Monday, April 13, the following restrictions will apply to necessary travel to obtain food, medical care, or cleaning supplies: vehicles with odd-numbered license plates may only travel on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while vehicles with even-numbered license plates may only travel on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The order includes limited exceptions for the preservation of life, health, safety, or security.
The Paraguayan government recommends all persons wear a mask or other face covering during visits to supermarkets, stores, pharmacies, service stations, or any other location where people gather. A mask or other face covering is required to use public buses. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control also recommends the use of cloth face covers in addition to other social distancing measures to slow the spread of COVID-19. U.S. government personnel are working from home until April 19. No routine consular services will be offered in that time.
