Event: Following the Sep 2 Paraguayan government operation against EPP elements and the Sep 9 EPP kidnapping of former vice president Oscar Denis, the Embassy reminds U.S. citizens to exercise increased caution traveling in Concepcion Department and other parts of NE Paraguay. As noted in our existing Travel Advisory, “Transnational criminal elements are active and engage in illicit trafficking of arms, narcotics, and goods in these departments, which are located along Paraguay’s northeastern border with Brazil.”
